Yesterday I had a re-occurring theme across several of my calls, including a freshly released podcast episode – 011: Big Dreams, No pressure – Why Success Feels Heavy and How To Fix It.
This theme was about the pressure that we feel on a daily basis is – once we dig a bit underneath it – is nothing more than a psychology phenomenon.
As in, how else could it be that just after a short conversation majority of my clients no longer feel any of the pressure that they felt before we got on a call.
Christmas shopping and preparations are still on the way. Work deadlines are still there. Uncertainty of the future never really goes away.
But you may somehow feel different by just shifting the psychology of how you relate to these things? Hmm.
What was also interesting that became REALLY clear is that the pressure seems to occur only when the mind is taking your attention either into the PAST or the FUTURE.
Those are really the two places where pressure exists.
When we return to the present moment, it somehow goes away.
But here’s the challenge!
The mind doesn’t actually WANT to stay in the present. It feels unsafe and uncomfortable to be in this very moment right here right now.
And do you know why?
Because if we even attempt to think about allowing ourselves to be in this very moment, all kinds of feelings and sensations start to come up on the radar.
Which the mind perceives as a threat. It was never taught how to deal with them.
So it does what it learned best, beat the emotional discomfort in the moment by creating even bigger stressors either in the past or the future. At least that’s known. That’s controllable. That we CAN do something about.
Or can we really? Perhaps it’s just the mind’s innocent way to keep the struggle going… so it doesn’t have to become aware of the uncomfortable emotion in this very moment underneath it all.
Come join us in the Academy to help finally put your mind at ease if this resonates!
